Proud to say that I know 3/5 of the words u posted peipei!! Im here to share my 5 words in my notebook hee hee.


1) Juxtapose - to place together or side by side especially for comparison or contrast

Juxtaposing the two essays revealed the huge differences in the author's viewpoints.

2) Masochist - One who derives sexual gratification, from being physically or emotionally abused.

3) Tenacious - holding fast; characterized by keeping a firm hold (often fol. by of):

a tenacious grip on my arm; tenacious of old habits

4) Transient - not lasting, enduring, or permanent; transitory.

A transient relationship; transient guests at a hotel

5) Apocalypse - any universal or widespread destruction or disaster.

The apocalypse of nuclear war.

On top of the five words, I've researched on a topic which was discussed during GP recently. I find it a pretty interesting topic & here's an article to share.

It's shocking that women are treated as a commodity and are killed at the whims of family members who deem that they have shamed the family. Women in such societies are expected to serve the family, almost akin to being a slave. Unlike us, their duties are not to score straight As, but to serve dinner on time, marry someone arranged by their parents and to procreate. Any form of tainting their chastity or defying of family rules results in what we call, "honour killing".

This warped mindset has resulted in countless deaths even in developed countries such as the UK. It is the mindless killing of people without any legal order. Why then are perpetrators able to escape scott-free time and again? This crime is an impingement of human rights and it is imperative that something is done about it.

However, the article has also pointed out that "In many countries where the practice is condoned or at least ignored, there are few shelters and very little legal protection." Here in Singapore as students, there is virtually nothing that we can do to alleviate this problem. But at the very least, I hope this article has shone some light on some issues faced by other countries, issues which we are lucky not to be slapped in the face with.

just some simple yet freq used words to get the ball rolling!(:

1. forlorn- desolate/ miserable feeling/appearance, lonely and sad
(thats totally our lives in veejay!)

2. ostentatious- pretentious or conspicuous show in an attempt to impress others

3. Pedantic- ostentatious in one's learning

4. succinct- concise (explanation)

5. cursory- going over sth without noticing the details, hasty. (A cursory glance over the newspaper.)

YAY CTs are finally starting tmr!

After 5 weeks of semi-hardcore mugging, I hope our efforts pay off!!

YAY so the three of us decided to eat Pizza Hut's $6.90 meal for lunch today!! But py is a lazy slacker, she didn meet us at 10am because she wanted to watch tv ( what rubbish do chem haha). THEN at about 12+ , we started feeling hungry and rushed her.

"haha okok leave house in 5" says princess

20+ mins later..

"kinda just reach hg mrt"

15mins later..

"Hello where are you?"

apparently princess went to kovan's Pizza hut and we;re at Compass. OK HAHAHAH very funny right, So we only started ordering at 2pm.. hungry hungry.

& our food took forever to come![but the gusti is so funny]

& 3yo boy tried to flirt with us and lied saying he's five and told us he ate mian!

& then study study study bridge x 3!
Then tuition, war with chwee.

THEN DINNER AT MIRACLE!
Stare at $5 dress, like pretty!

Decided to go pick out some cheap dressess and try on.
Took many many cheapo dress, was super excited then found out no fitting room. Ok then home sweet home!


cross my fingers, hope i get nothing lower than Cs hahahaha ok.
